Girls 2025 Season

Recreational Spring Season runs for about 8 weeks (April - May, weather dependent) and is primarily an instructional season to prepare players for the next level of play, focusing on fun and fundamentals.

WYSA plays in alignment with USA Softball rules and regulations.

Girls 6U

Ages 5-6

In 6U, basic game concepts and skills are taught with the primary focus on fun, which includes:

  • non-scoring games

  • continuous batting

  • every girl bats every inning

  • coach pitch or players hit from tee

  • no strike-outs

  • rotating positions

Game Days:  TBD

Fields:  Smith Fields, Columbia Falls Fields

Player Receives

  • Interleague games
  • Fun Competition
  • 1-2 weekly field and skills practice

Girls 8U

Ages 7-8

 In 8U, basic game concepts and skills are taught with the introduction of pitching and specific skill development with the emphasis still on fun, which includes:

  • games are scored

  • 3 strike rule while batting

  • coach pitch and player pitch (limited to keep the pace of play moving)

  • 3 out innings
  • rotating positions

Game Days:  Saturdays, or during the week at scheduled practice times

Fields:  Smith Fields, Columbia Falls Fields

Player Receives

  • Interleague games
  • Fun Competition
  • 2 weekly field and skill practice
  • one begining of the year tournament

Girls 10U

Ages 9-10

The 10U division introduces additional strategies and skills specific to hitting, base running, and defense, which includes:

  • regular scoring with a mercy rule after 4 innings

  • player pitch with some exceptions

  • players can steal 1st, 2nd, 3rd and home 

  • drop third rule in effect

  • win/lose records are recorded

  • teams are formed to balance skills 

  • player positions are formed and cultivated

Game Days:  During the week and Saturdays

Fields:  Smith Fields, Columbia Falls Fields, Kalispell Kidsports Complex, Eureka Fields

Player Receives

  • Interleague games
  • Fun and Tough Competition
  • 2 weekly field and skill practices

Girls 12U

Ages 11-12

The 12U division emphasizes age-appropriate advanced strategies and skills, which includes:

  • regular scoring with a mercy rule after 4 innings

  • players can steal all bases, including home

  • player pitch only with each pitcher allowed a maximum of 6 innings per week

  • win/loss records are recorded

  • season-ending playoff tournament

  • teams are formed to balance skills 

  • player positions are emphasized and cultivated

Game Days:  During the week and Saturdays

Fields:  Smith Fields, Columbia Falls Fields, Kalispell Kidsports Complex, Eureka Fields

  • Tough Competition
  • 2 weekly field and skill practices

Girls 14U

Ages 13-14

The 14U division emphasizes the age-appropriate advanced strategies and skills similar to high school level play, which includes:

  • regular scoring with a mercy rule after 4 innings

  • player pitch only with each pitcher allowed a maximum of 7 innings per week

  • win/loss records are kept

  • teams are formed to balance skills across teams

  • specific player positions cultivated

Game Days:  During the week and Saturdays

Fields:  Smith Fields, Columbia Falls Fields, Kalispell Kidsports Complex, Eureka Fields
